In week 18 we went from Mexico City to Oaxaca. If you’re having trouble with pronouncing “Oaxaca”, it is pronounced “Wa-hak-a”. I know right, it’s confusing. Anyway, we were on our way to Oaxaca on a luxurious bus ride. It was sooooooooo comfortable I could sleep on it! Oaxaca was a desert biome. When we arrived, we first checked into our hotel, and the best parts were that they had two dogs, the hotel was in the best area (no noise at night but parties just next door that we couldn’t hear at all), and it had really cute birds too. It was a dream come true.

The following day we were going on a really cool type of tour that went to a mezcal factory, a castle, petrified waterfalls and a tree with the world’s largest circumference. It was a big and fun day. The first place we went to was the petrified waterfalls. Petrified waterfalls are formed as a result of the mineral-rich spring water trickling down the cliff face from above in a similar way that stalactites are formed in a cave. That is what a petrified waterfall is. I know right, they look very cool. On the other side of the waterfalls was also 3 swimming pool’s!!!!! And of course we swam in them. After the waterfalls we went to the mezcal factory. My parents thought that the mezcal smelt like ribs but I thought that it smelt like….. Umm…… Something that isn’t ribs. Mum and dad did a testing of the drinks, and mum may have coughed about 10 times it was so strong for her!!!!! We then started to head off to the castle. The castle had all these different patterns and markings on all of the walls. After the Castle, we visited the large tree which was super cool! I got so many photos (I will have to show you at least one). Then we were back in the van heading back to our hostel.

The next day we were going to go on an overnight bus ride! Anyway, in the morning we just chilled, but for lunch we went to…..………………… Oops, too many dot’s…. Ok I think I’ve got it…. We went to….. Smoke Alley!!!!!!! Smoke Alley had the most BEST FOOD EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What we had ordered was, one plate with about 10 tacos and so much meat on the side!!! At the end of the amazing meal we looked like pigs. Then after Smoke Alley we were on our way to the overnight bus ride we were going to ride on. Then we hopped onto to the bus, warned that it will be the most worst sleep ever. You will hear what happened the following day soon (it’s in the next paragraph below).

So what happened was…. nothing at all!!!!! Hahahahahahahaha!!!! I tricked you! You should have seen the look on your faces!!!! Anyway, after the bus ride we had arrived in Puerto Escondido. Puerto Escondido is this amazing city that has the nicest beaches. Well if you like big waves and a nice sunset on the beach, I think you would love it. After an amazing first time at the beach we went to a swing bar that had swings that people sit on and you can order a drink while swinging!!!!! It was a really fun bar. We then had a chill afternoon at the place we were staying at! YYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After playing the funnest games we went to dinner that I had been planning for about 2 days. And mum and dad said that it was one of the best meals they have had in Mexico!!!!!! I still thought that the tortas in Mexico City were the best but these guys have a different opinion. We then watched the sun go down and went to bed.

The next day me and my mum had a date. We went to the swing bar for about 1 hour and had two drinks. My mum also bought me a necklace. It was really fun. We also met a Mexican family that was learning English at school. So my mum, of course, asked them if they wanted to join us playing cards. And they said yes!!!!! It was a little bit tricky for them to understand, but we got there. Then after our date we ran into dad!! We then stayed at Selmas (the swing bar) for a bit more to get 2 more drinks. We decided that we had to have some food at some point, so we went to the place we went last night. We went back because my parents really liked that place a lot. Then we went to bed.

The following day we went to the beach. Ooh! Sorry, I forgot that Easter was the next day! Anyway, at the beach I built a really really big protection system and a massive pool that me and my dad could fit in!!!!!!! Then after the beach we went to our hostel to get the…… I know right it´s so cool. So then we, OOOPPPPSSSSSS!!!!! Sorry, I forgot to tell you what it was…. it was a…… Quad bike!!!! We rode the bike the whole way to the next hotel that had a pool, hammocks, and our room was at the top so we got to see sunset at night!!!!! It was really cool. Then we rode the quad bike to……….. rescuing turtles from the shore to the sea! It was the most adorable thing ever. I named my turtle Gary, he was by far the best turtle ever. After the most adorable thing ever we went to the place we went to the hotel!!!!! After another amazing meal we went to bed looking forward to Easter.

YYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was finally Easter!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oops, didn’t see you there. On Easter, instead of easter eggs, I received chocolate bars. In Mexico they don’t celebrate Easter like we do with Easter bunny or eggs, they go to church and might get an ice cream. Then l started the feast. And it was amazing! All of the amazing milk chocolate, cookies and cream, and so much more delectable things. For a surprise on Easter my mum dad and I painted eggs!!! It was really fun. Then we went to the most spectacular, most beautiful beach ever!!!! We were in paradise. The beach had clear water, lots of kids and I had a pool toy for the day. It was amazing. Then after some smashing cool waves we went to the pool at the place we were staying at. It may have been the most refreshing thing ever, especially because we had just gone up sooooooo many stairs. Wow, what an Easter we had. I just wonder what will happen next on our Latino Wombat trip.

Oh Liv! I absolutely loved this blog, so exciting reading about your adventures 🙂 The easter egg paintings looked like so much fun! It’s interesting how different cultures don’t celebrate the same as us in Australia. You certainly had a great easter regardless of the “eggs”, chocolate bars are equally as delicious! Love you!
