Week 7: Cartagena & Santa Marta

Good morning, or should I say buenos días, because this week I have been learning Spanish for 4 whole hours a day!!! But only for one week.

On the first day of week 7 we woke up in the morning and mum and I went to “our” Spanish class; but while we were doing Spanish in a cafe, dad was doing actual Spanish class with a teacher!! When we finished our Spanish we went shopping, dun dun duuuuunn it was a little fun when we got me new clothes but still I do not like shopping! For lunch we had chicken and salad and it was really delicioso (that means delicious in Spanish). Then we did some more shopping 😭☹️! But this is what cheered me up…pizza and pastries for dinner. Then we went back home and watched The Simpsons (it’s the best tv show ever!!!) I definitely recommend it. Now back to what I was saying!!

Most days this week were the same as the first, doing Spanish in the cafe. This is where I had the bestest hot chocolate I have ever had!!! One day we also got cake 🍰, but not the type of cake on the emoji, it was chocolate cake 🍰!! Oh come on I used the emoji of a vanilla cake!!!😂

One afternoon was extra good because I got a new anklet bracelet that was gold!! And if you can remember from week 5, we went to a place called Cafe del Mar. Well if you do remember, we went there again for drinks and I got a limonada (that’s Spanish for lemonade). There was a really nice sunset there, and while we were watching the sunset someone proposed, and she said YES!!

Sadly this was our last night in Cartagena 😢😢😭😭😩

On Saturday we went on a 4 hour bus ride. But it only felt like a few minutes because I was asleep the whole time😂! The bus took us to a new city called Santa Marta!!

On Sunday we went in a boat ride to a beach that had some of the most bees I have ever seen in my whole life (bees are my worst nightmare)!! But it was still a really nice beach and I spent most of my time doing stand up paddle boarding.

Fun facts:

In English if the word ends in the letters ‘ty’ (for example university) you replace the ‘ty’ with ‘dad’ and this is the word in Spanish (for example universidad)

How big was the largest cup of hot chocolate ever made?

Answer: 3,331 litres!!

What’s the rudest way to ask if your hotdog is on its way?

Answer ¿Donde hotdog? (good one Nore)

Mum order me a hotdog at a restaurant and when the lady asked for her name, mum didn’t really understand what was being asked and the lady thought her name was Nore 😂😂😂. The hot dog took a while to come, and mum was trying to use Spanish and ask if my hotdog was coming, and all she could say is “¿donde hotdog?” (where hotdog) 😂😂😂. What a fun fact!
