Week 20: Palenque, Merida & Isla Mujeres

What?! Week 20, that can’t be right! Lets see here… Ah, here we go…. Yep, it’s week 20 alright! Wow! The weeks go by so fast. I can’t keep up. Anyway, on Monday we were in Palenque. Palenque is pronounced Pa-len-ke because of the word “que” is Spanish, and it means “what” in English. So when you say Palenque your sort of saying Palenwhat! Sorry, I just keep on changing the topic! So what we did first in Palenque was go to the pyramids that used to be owned by the Mayans. These pyramids were really big ones that were really tall and wide. But the only thing was how there was alot of sprukers (people who sell things that don’t do any good at all to you). That was a bit anoying, but it was still really cool. Anyway, after the pyramids we had a chill afternoon at the place we were staying at. And guess what?! The place had a pool! I know right, so that’s how we spent our afternoon.

On Tuesday we went to 5 whole waterfalls! In some of them you could swim and some you could just look but it was all so fun swimming or not. Anyway, we first walked to all of the waterfalls and then decided which ones were the best to swim in and then we swam in those ones. It was so much fun! Then after the waterfalls we drove to Villahermosa to drop the car back and go on an overnight bus ride to Merida.

On Wednesday we were still in Merida on a walking tour that was pretty good. Then after the walking tour my mum and dad had a nap while I made comics. It’s really fun. Then we went to the pool at the place in our hotel. The pool was really refreshing. We then went to dinner. And it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Because we had PORK TORTAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The following morning mum and I went to the movies! But the only thing was how the movie was in Spanish, but it was still a really good day. We then started to head back home to the pool to have chill time. In chill time we played cards went in the pool and then went to dinner. I had chosen an Italian place for dinner that was absolutily delicious. I wish I was eating it right now. That’s how good it was.

The next day we went on a ferry to Isla Mujeres. Isla Mujeres is one of the most beautiful beaches ever. I could certainly live there, it’s just the only thing that wasn’t super duper about Isla Mujeres, was how it was way over travel budget😬. Eg. ice cream was 50 pesos ($4) for 1 scoop, 2 scoops for 100 pesos ($8) and 3 scoops for 150 pesos ($12)!!!!!!!! But other than that it was a dream come true🤩🥰. Anyway, we spent our day at the beach paradise. But on the way we had to look out for shoes (for my dad) and sunniess (for me). At some point we got sunniess but we couldn’t find shoes. Sorry I keep on chan – HEY MUM WHAT TIME IS IT?! Oops, again I keep changing the topic! So, we were on our way to the beach and it was one of the best, and I’ve been to alot, and I mean alot of beaches in my life time, so saying this was one of the best is a big deal. Got that? Good👌. It may have been shallow but it was clear, the sand was pure luxury, and there was nearly not even one bit of seaweed, we were in… Isla Mujeres. Did you like how I said, Isla Mujeres in a low voice? Why thank you😊. Then after the most loveliest beach sesh we went back home to The Simpsons. (YAY!).

For 2 whole days we did the exact same thing as the first. We went to the beach, made a sand castle, go in the water, come back out and do it all over again. We had the most relaxing and funnest time in Isla Mujeres, I wish we could stay longer there, but we just have to go😢.

Fun facts:

What does Mujeres mean?

Answer: Mujeres means women in Spanish. So that would mean we were visiting, Women Island.

What is the longest movie that ever existed?

Answer: The Cure For Insomnia which goes for 85 hours!!!

What is the biggest torta in the whole world?

Answer: 74 metres!!!!! Now that’s what I call big.

  1. What on earth are PORK TORTAS??? They sound absolutely delicious!

I am super dooper jealous of that beach – i never ever have seen such clear blue water in my entire life so can just imagine what it was actually like swimming there! I think Isla Mujeres is where I need to retire and drink Pina Coladas – what do you think??? LOL hehehehehehehe when you are old enough you can move there and we can live happily ever after enjoying our life on the beach. We would have to learn to make our own ice-cream though, that price is ridiculous!

Mum said you guys have been so sick for a while which isn’t great, I hope you are all starting to feel much better now. Must be those PORK TORTAS?! haha

  2. OMG!!! That sounded so amazing, going to the best beach I’ve ever seen, watching a movie in the Cinemas… I think🤨… What a shame it was in Spanish☹️. Anyway the point is it sounds like you’re having the best time.
