Week 25: Lake Atitlán

On the first day of week 25 we were in Panajachel. For the first half of the week we just chilled because we were sick. It was pretty boring, the only thing that was more fun than sitting around on a couch was changing towns from Panajachel to San Pedro. That was the only thing we did that was fun in the first half of the week…. actually wait… we did go to a restaurant everyday called Little Spoon and they had THE BEST BURGERS! So that was fun….

We were still not feeling great in San Pedro but the place we were staying had cute dogs which I got to play with everyday, and a lovely view of the lake.

On Thursday we changed towns and moved to San Marcos. When we arrived we checked into our really cool hostel that had rock climbing and lots of English-speaking kids. On the same day we met some people who my parents met on Instagram, and they were from New Zealand. The names of their kids are “Safie and Jett”. Another thing at our hotel was a sauna! A sauna is a room that has a fire in it, and you can put water on it to make it hotter. It’s REALLY relaxing😌. Then we had dinner and went to bed.

The next day we had soooooo much fun! What we did was go rock climbing!!! But the twist was how the rock climbing didn’t have anything that kept you nice and safe except for a big mattress at the bottom of where you climb. It was so fun, but the highest I got was 3 rocks that you had to grip onto. And for dinner we went to a place called “Love Priobiotics”. At Love Priobiotics it was their pizza night, which meant they had a whole menu stacked with pizza options. In my opinion it wasn’t that good, but everyone else loved it😃. While mum and dad ate dinner, I played freeze tag with all the kids – it was so much fun.

On Saturday we really just had a chill day, except for how we played a soccer game with Bodhi (he is the 5year old son of the owner of our hostel). The soccer ended at about lunchtime then I had a playdate with two friends (Safie and Jett)! And I also got invited on my first sleepover in 6 months with Jett and Safie!!! What. A. Day. It was so much fun. And then for the whole afternoon I was looking forward to going on my first sleepover in a looonnnnggg time. And then the time had finally come…. And it was AMAZING! We watched a movie called Avatar, and I loved it! And we stayed up until 11pm! It was sooooo much fun. 🤩🥳😃😴!

The next day I was pretty tired, and LOTS of kids asked to play with me, and I kinda’ had to say yes. I was sooooo tired, but I still did 😴. And after that I was exhausted, BUT my mum said we should bake a caramel cake. And I just had to say yes to help her, because I love baking and I really felt like eating a caramel cake. So I had to say…. Yes! And it just keeps on coming, the people who I had a sleepover with asked me if I wanted a play date, and I also just had to say yes. It was one crazy day.

  1. YAY! You have some little friends to hang out with (you must be getting sick of your boring old parents by now hahaha) Having the sleepover would have been so amazing, especially after 6 months missing your friends back home. Such a lovely experience for you sweetie.

Glad you helped mum with the caramel cake – thank god because she would have probably ruined it without your help!

I don’t think that rock climbing place would meet any safety standards back here in Australia but you are so game just free climbing under a mattress – WOW!

Looking forward to reading more about your time in Guatemala beautiful girl over the next month! It must be unreal to be staying in that house overlooking the spectacular water and mountains.

Love you, we have to facetime again soon so I can see your cute face.
