Week 35: San Gil & Bucaramanga

On Monday it was a terrible day! It was a terrible day because the night before we went on an overnight bus ride, and we were meant to arrive at the next bus stop at 5:30 am. We arrived at the bus station at 12:00 pm! We arrived 7 hours later because when I woke up, there was a protest. And it went for 7 whole hours! So we were just sitting there doing nothing at all for 7 hours! And thats just the start of this story. When we had finally arrived at the next bus station, our ride was supposed to be 3 hours. It ended up being 9 hours! It was a 9 hour drive because on the way we had to drive through a really narrow road with lots of trucks and cars, and one of the trucks had fallen over! And then we were stuck in the same spot for 6 whole hours! It was crazy. Then when we started to move we still had to drive, like 3 hours! We had finished the day at 10:00 pm! It was a terrible day.

The next day we did something very cool, we went…. Drum roll please…. Uh sorry I just need a minute to remember what we did…. Abseiling! And it was sooo much fun. We got to abseil down a 180 metre waterfall (we abseiled down 60 metres of it)! But before we did the abseil, we had to walk up the waterfall. It was crazy steep. There was literally a rope to help you get up there! Dad did not do it, because he was going to take photos of me and my mum from below. So he was the lucky one, because he did not have to hike. The abseil was amazing, and at the top it was a great view. And going down the abseil was awesome. At the bottom the water really hurt when it fell on your back. But it was still really fun.

After abseiling we went to a fun game called tejo (pronounced tay-ho). It was really fun. There are lots of explosives with gun powder in them, and you throw a hard rock at them, and if the rock hits the explosive really hard, it explodes! I cheated and put an explosive on the bottom of my rock, and when I threw the rock it would explode!

The next day was a super exciting day, we went paragliding!!! It was so exciting! But before we went paragliding, we had to drive all the way up to the top of the mountain we were going paragliding off. Only a few minutes after arrived, we were flying through the air like a bird! It was awesome. It was super duper windy, but there was a great view of the mountains, rivers, and so many more cool sights. And when we came to land we did like 10 360s! But sadly it was over, and we had to go home 😭.

The next day was a really adventurous day. We were going to an adventure park! The adventure park had all sorts of things, like wobbly bridges, jumping planks of wood, and zip-lining! There were so many more activities, we would have to make this blog post go on forever if I named them all! It was so much fun. For the zip-lining, you could just let go and enjoy the ride! There was also a bit of hiking and rope climbing things. There were all sorts of things. My point is, it was very fun. Then we had to go home and do some school.

After I knocked out some school work, we went to a nice place for dinner called Gringo Mikes. And man, was it delicious. We got a burger and a sandwich. But that wasn’t the only bit of Heaven. There was also a giant cookie! And when they say giant, they are not kiddin’. It melted in your mouth, it felt like a ball of goodness falling into your stomach. We loved Gringo Mikes so much, we went there every night! And sometimes for lunch too.

The next day we travelled from San Gil to Bucaramanga. Man that is a long word. But we weren’t just staying in a normal hotel, we were staying in a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ hotel! It was soooo pretty and cool! It had a rooftop pool, room service, fancy restaurante, and so much more! It was awesome. I wish we could stay there for the rest of the trip! Then for the rest of the day we just chilled at the pool and looked out at the view of the city. And when we were about to go to bed I tried to call a friend (Hazzie), but there was no response, so we got to watch the rest of Guardians of the Galaxy 3. And it was a really good movie. I recommend it. It is on Disney+. Enjoy!

This may have been the saddest day of my whole entire life. We were leaving the fancy hotel! Waaaaaa! Why?! Oh, sorry. Anyway, we had to check out, but before we did, we spent half of the day in the pool and at the gym. At the gym dad and I ran for 30 mins (I did 2 miles in 30 minutes). Then we headed to the pool to cool off. After that we went to the sauna, and back in the pool. It was a really nice morning. Then we went on a 1 hour flight to Bogotá. And another 1 hour flight to Ecuador (my 20th stamp in my passport!). And the rest is for you to find out in the next post….
