Week 40: Lima, Paracas & Huacachina

On the first day of week 40! What?! Can you belive that I have already done 40 blog posts! It’s crazy. Anyway, we went on a boat ride to a bus, and a bus to an airport just to get out of the Amazon! Then we packed our bags and flew for 2 hours with our destination being Lima.

The next day we started a thing called a PerΓΉ Hop. A PerΓΉ Hop is a lot of bus stops to different places in PerΓΉ. It’s pretty cool. We started to head to a place called Paracas. On the way we stopped somewhere to have a little break. On our break we did zip-lining, guinea pig hole prize, and horse dancing! If you’re wondering what guinea pig hole prize is, there is a guinea pig that gets spun around into circles and then it chooses a hole and inside it has a prize! Then you get the prize (zip-lining)! Then on our way out we noticed a picture of a lady eating a whole chicken. She was definitely enjoying herself. It was hilarious! It was a really fun day.

The next day we went on a 2 hour bus trip to a place called Huacachina. We were staying in a really nice place that had a pool, camping and a great view of the desert! It was soo cool. We loved it so much that we stayed there for whole other day! I had absolutely no complaints. We spent one hour in the pool and then we headed off to do something super duper fun (other than going in the pool). We went sand duning and sand boarding!!! It was amazing! I nearly flew out of my seat on some of the hills it was so crazy! I think it may have been one of the funnest things I have done on this trip. It was incredible. I also LOVED sand boarding so much. The tour guide would literally say three words and then push you off the edge! It was so surprising and fun. It was one amazing day.

The next day we were still in Huacachina. For most of the day we were in the pool, but in the morning we did a wine and pisco tour. Mum and dad drank wine and pisco, and I ate cookies. In the tour dad competed in a shot competition! In a shot competition you have to drink A LOT of alcohol. What you do first is have a shot of pisco, then you have to tip it up side down. If it has just the tiniest drip of liquid you have to have another shot! And if you don’t say “Salud (cheers)” you have to have another shot! Dad ended up having 4 shots. It was so much fun to watch (maybe not for dad).

The next day dad and I went on a flight over the Nazca Lines! If you don’t know what the Nazca Lines are read the next paragraphπŸ‘‡. The flight was so much fun. It was surprisingly a little bit bumpy. It is surprising because it nearly never is windy and it only rains 30 mins a year! It’s crazy.

The Nazca Lines are different pictures in the ground that a tribe drew. No one knows why or how they made the lines. Scientists are still trying to figure out why the tribe did it. Some of the different lines are a monkey, astronaut, spiral, dog, hummingbird, lizard, and tree.

Then after the flight dad was very tired and I was very excited because we were going out for lunch to a really nice place. I think it may have been the best chicken I have ever had! It was crazy delicious. Then we headed off to a hotel for only the afternoon. We went there because it had a pool! Then we went on an overnight bus ride to Arequipa.

Fun Facts

Answer: Pisco is a drink with lots of alcohol, and my parents told me it’s disgusting. It is made from grapes (like wine).

How many Nazca Lines are there?

Answer: 1170 Nazca Lines! That is a lot. We only noticed 10 (the animals)!
